First of a new generation of fast battleships, North Carolina was commissioned in 1941 and participated in every major campaign of World War II in the Pacific.
The battleship is open for tours year-round.
The tour route takes visitors from deep in the engine rooms to high up on the bridge.

Fort Fisher was the Confederacy's last coastal stronghold. It kept the port of Wilmington open to blockade runners, which carried desperately needed supplies through the Union naval blockade.
