CHRISTMAS BY THE SEA

Christmas is probably the best time of year to visit the North Carolina coast. And to celebrate the wonderful weather in the area, the Chamber sponsors a festival called Christmas By The Sea.
Everyone is encouraged to deck their halls with local mistletoe and seashell ornaments while eating oyster stuffing and listening to the laughing gulls outside the beach cottages.
The festival is a collection of events made possible by the efforts of many community organizations stretching three weekends. The first weekend is a hometown parade and a tour of homes on Oak Island. The second weekend is the Southport historic home tour, lighted boat parade (flotilla), choral concert and the downtown merchants extend their hours. The third weekend usually includes a band concert and children's activities.
